Plot: Marjaavaan is an action-drama with love at its centre. It is a story of love birds Raghu (Sidharth Malhotra), a street-smart guy and Zoya (Tara Sutaria). Their love story gets halted and turns their world upside down with the entry of a gang leader with harmful intentions.

Review: The film Marjaavaan reminds of Sidharth and Riteish Deshmukh's earlier film Ek Villian, which shared a similar plot and story. The only difference we could make out was that Riteish plays a gang leader here while in Ek Villian, he was a psychopath who used to kill women who insulted him or hurt his ego.

In a way, it appeared more of a sequel rather than something different. Therefore, the film somewhere down the line fails to hold the audience for too long. With a similar sort of story, the only difference one could feel was the added amount of action in the movie.

Now talking about the performances, the man who steals the show is none other than Riteish Deshmukh. He has played a dwarf villain and is looking fabulous. He impressed the audience with his awesome role and performance.

While Siddharth Malhotra has done a decent job. However, he remained like the one he was seen in the above-said movie. Also, Tara Sutaria, had an amazing screen presence but had little to do as she just had to smile charmingly and cry when the occasion called for it. Moreover, Rakul Preet, seemed to have more scenes than the lead heroine. However, both Tara Sutaria and Rakhul Preet seemed to have their decent presence but weren't that impressive as they were only kept to add glam.

Among the character artistes, veteran south actor Nassar and Bhojpuri star Ravi Kishan, impress in their limited screen time.

Editing, story, direction and other technical stuff were okay and did a little to make a difference in adding up the entertainment value of the film. But the film scored well in music. The film’s music is melodious and peppy that blends well with the narrative, but there were far too many songs, adding to an already lengthy runtime.

The film Marjaavaan is a typical masala action film. It falls several shades short of a proper Bollywood masala entertainer that it aspires to be, despite having all the ingredients for it.

The weak and cliched plotline along with heavy-duty dialogues that should have impressed ended up sounding hollow.

If you are a fan of action movies, only then go for it. As, in terms of uniqueness, story and other elements, it has less to offer.
