Plot: The film Malang is about a seemingly perfect couple's life, Advait (Aditya Roy Kapoor) and Sara (Disha Patani). Advait a young introvert visits Goa, where he meets the free-spirited Sara from London, who has come to India for the first time. The extreme opposite couple live it up together and all goes well until life turns upside down, when they become linked to a corrupt cop SHO Agashe (Anil Kapoor) and his righteous counterpart Michael Rodrigues (Kunal Kemmu).

Reviews: This is by far director Mohit Suri’s darkest attempt at establishing emotions. Though he has always been ‘high’ on emotions and music, this time with the thrilling factor, he has taken it a notch higher.

With power-packed action scenes, that dives straight into the drama, most of the part of the narrative maintains a steady grip, but while getting to a point of purpose, many cinematic liberties might pinch a few. Which, with tighter editing could have elevated the narratives.

When it comes to performances, characters have been backed by exuberant performance. Aditya Roy Kapur’s subtle stubble to thick beard, is a perfect fit. He impresses in the role of a guy whose life goes through a major upheaval. His efforts put in the film shows and it’s not only just his robust physique. While, Disha Patani looked stunning, she makes most of her role, and is unlike any character she has played so far.

Even the ever-reliable Anil Kapoor walks the fine line between being flamboyant and over-the-top with ease and stuns and Kunal Kemmu, is sincere and surprising in equal parts and gradually peels off the layers of his character. Whereas, Elli Avrram’s character is beautifully designed for her.

The music, especially the title track and ‘Chal Chalein Ghar Mere Humdum’ would stay with the viewers even after they leave the theatres, which proves to be one of the strong points.

Overall, Malang takes you from one ‘thrill’ to another but the repetition of the theme and the lack of innovation in the narrative. And it is only towards the end that the story gets intriguing.
