MIAMI: Keyboardist-Composer, Tom Alexander, has rereleased his first solo piano album, "What's Ahead? 20thAnniversary Edition" on all major digital music stores. On January 22, 2001 the recording was released to very little fanfare. That all changed on Father's Day of that year when he appeared on NPR's "Weekend Edition: Sunday" with host, Liane Hansen.

"I was thrilled to learn Liane liked the album. But I was really stunned when she invited me on her show," Alexander said. "It was an amazing experience to sit in NPR's sprawling studios in Washington DC and share how the album came about and how movie soundtracks, rock and jazz influenced my own music."

"What's Ahead?" received many accolades from critics and fans alike, but only a limited number of copies were manufactured after its initial release.

"I'd been asked for some time to do another pressing," Alexander added. "But we were on to other projects — soundtracks, band oriented albums, lots of stuff. However, with the paradigm shift in how people consume music, movies, television, it made complete sense to do a digital release."

Alexander says the album is difficult to categorize.

"It's funny how it's often listed as jazz on many online sites, but it's more than that. It's piano music first and foremost. The influences are many. Sure, there are elements of jazz harmonies, but you'll hear echoes of cinematic music, rock, classical, ethnic, it's all there."

"What's Ahead?" is available on Alexander's music store on Apple Music and iTunes as well as all major online stores.
