Actress Kangana Ranaut, who was most recently seen on screen in 'Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi', will play late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa in the upcoming multilingual biopic 'Thalaivi', its makers have reported.

On the event of Kangana's birthday on Saturday, it was declared through an official proclamation that she has been reserved in to play Jayalalithaa.

The movie, declared on the event of 71st birthday commemoration of Jayalalithaa in February, will be directed by Vijay. To be produced by Vishnu Induri, 'Thalaivi' will begin shooting from April.

"When producer Vishnu Induri approached me with an offer to direct this biopic, I felt a sense of responsibility more than excitement. This was a story of an achiever; a story of one woman who fought for her place in a male-dominated world. It was meant to be told with honesty. The stature of this tall leader and her courage inspired me to say yes as soon as I was offered this opportunity," Vijay said to a leading web portal.

The film has music by GV Prakash Kumar while Nirav Shah will wrench the camera. 'Bahubali' and 'Bajrangi Bhaijaan' essayist has been expedited board to administer the composition procedure.

Strikingly, another Jayalalithaa biopic titled 'The Iron Lady' is right now in the offing. This venture is preparing for a 2020 discharge. Nithya Menen plays Jayalalithaa in "The Iron Lady", being coordinated by A. Priyadarshini. The film will be discharged in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi.

Thalaivi' will be the authority biopic on the life of Jayalalithaa. The makers have likewise taken authorization from the late pioneer's nephew Deepak.
