Los Angeles: "The Big Bang Theory" star Johnny Galecki is turning producer with a new take on National Lampoon's beloved "Vacation" franchise.

Titled "The Griswolds", the show is set up at WarnerMedia's HBO Max, brings Galecki back into the fold after his role in the 1989's "Christmas Vacation".

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the actor will executive produce the single-camera comedy about what happens when the disaster-prone family returns home from vacation.

"Community" scribe Tim Hobert will pen the script and exec produce the comedy alongside Galecki and his Alcide Bava topper Holly Brown. Alcide Bava's Cory Wood will produce.

The show is based on the "Vacation" films, which were produced by Warner Bros Pictures.

It's currently unclear if any members of the franchise Chevy Chase, Beverly D'Angelo, Randy Quaid, and Ed Helms will star in the new film or if it will feature a fresh cast.

The "Vacation" series was initially based on John Hughes' short story. The franchise comprises five main films including two that were not backed by National Lampoon and one spin-off.
