Hyderabad Golf Association announced 1st Edition of Sreenidhi Unviversity “TELANGANA PREMIER GOLF LEAGUE”
Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Golf course is a project initiated by the Telangana Tourism Development Corporation and the Hyderabad Golf Association (HGA) has set up an International standard golf course and a Golf academy for development of Golf. HGA was formed with the primary objects of encouraging, promoting and developing the game of golf in Telangana. Situated at the historic Golconda fort, it is one of the finest heritage golf courses in the world. HGA has won the National Tourism Award, twice, as the “BEST TOURISM FRIENDLY GOLF COURSE”. It is an eco-friendly golf course which is totally irrigated using treated sewerage from a unique root-zone sewerage treatment system.
HGA has designed an innovative Golf League aimed at providing competitive golfing experience, which is named as “TELANGANA PREMIER GOLF LEAGUE” (TPGL). The league is intended to foster the sport of Golf by providing a friendly, fair & well-managed opportunity to play. The golf tournament which will be played in an atmosphere of camaraderie & healthy competition for all our golfers. Members and their families will be participating in the matches and the festivities to have a memorable experience. Over 200 golfers are expected to participate in the event.
The entire event will be played in 8 rounds in three different formats over 5 weeks, with 16 teams starting from September 12th 2021 at HGA Golf Course. The league will be played in a Matchplay format with 5 Rounds at league stage and 3 Rounds of Knock out/playoff matches (Quarter Finals, Semi Finals and Finals). The League concludes with a Final Play-off rounds and Prize Distribution on Oct 9th 2021.
Speaking on the occasion, C. Dayakar Reddy, President, HGA said, we are extremely delighted to announce the First Edition of “Telangana Premier Golf League”. We believe that the Corporates can help in nurturing young talent and taking India’s international profile in the sport to the next level. Commenting on the occasion, Sri. V. Srinivas Goud, Hon‘ble Minister for Excise Prohibition, Sports, Youth Services, Tourism Culture and Archaeology, Govt. of Telangana, said, after the formation of Telangana state, the government has encouraged all the sports and related events and I really appreciate and congratulate the HGA for launching their First Edition of “ Telangana Premier Golf League”.
Acknowledging the current efforts, he said, “A committed group of golf enthusiasts has nurtured golf in the state over the years and now we need to do much more to encourage young talent to take up the sport.” Since the Golf is now an Olympic sport.
