Home Guard suspended for assault
Malappuram (Kerala): A Home Guard was suspended on Thursday for assaulting a man who was allegedly drunk and creating a ruckus near here.
A video of the incident went viral in the social media.
"As soon as we got information on the action of the Home Guard, he was removed from active duty. It seems like the man assaulted was drunk and abused the Home Guard on traffic duty," the police told PTI.
Police have filed a report with the Fire Service Department which recruits and appoints Home Guards.
Home Guards is a voluntary force assisting the police in controlling civil disturbance and communal riots.
