HCA Healthcare Joins American Red Cross Annual Disaster Giving Program
$500,000 donation will support immediate disaster relief nationwide
HCA Healthcare, a leading healthcare provider with 184 hospitals and approximately 2,000 sites of care in 21 states and the United Kingdom, today announced its support of the American Red Cross through a $500,000 contribution to the Annual Disaster Giving Program (ADGP). HCA Healthcare’s support helps the Red Cross to meet the needs of people affected by disasters big and small, anytime and anywhere across the United States.
“We know firsthand the help Red Cross provides to people and communities during the most difficult times,” said Sam Hazen, HCA Healthcare’s chief executive officer. “HCA Healthcare’s culture is built on a deep-rooted belief in taking care of others while taking care of each other, and we are privileged to continue our support of disaster relief efforts by the Red Cross.”
In addition to today’s announcement, HCA Healthcare, and its employees through an employee match program, have a long history of joining with the Red Cross in its efforts to provide disaster relief around the world, including support for victims of earthquakes, floods, wildfires and other natural disasters. HCA Healthcare over the last three years has provided $2.5 million in financial support to the Red Cross for hurricane relief efforts, including Hurricane Harvey in 2017 and hurricanes Florence and Michael in 2018. Along with hurricane relief support, HCA Healthcare has contributed more than $1 million to the Red Cross with funding going to capital campaigns such as bloodmobiles for mobile donations, the Home Fire Campaign to put smoke detectors in homes, and “Together We Prepare” disaster training.
Members of the Annual Disaster Giving Program pledge financial and in-kind donations in advance of disasters, powering the Red Cross with strong infrastructure, trained volunteers, innovative technology and critical resources necessary to provide relief and support to those in crisis. These annual contributions allow the Red Cross to respond immediately to disasters, help families during the recovery process and prepare people for future emergencies.

While large disasters like hurricanes, floods, tornadoes and wildfires typically draw national attention, each year the Red Cross responds to more than 62,000 disasters across the country—the majority of which are home fires. Contributions to the ADGP provide a reliable funding base and enable the Red Cross to provide services to people in need of assistance at no cost and regardless of income. Additionally, Red Cross volunteers serve in their local communities every day conducting disaster preparedness presentations and giving people the reassurance and confidence to face crises of all kinds.
