Plot: A school in a place called the Motherland trains Fairy Godmothers, but the problem is that nobody really needs or believes in fairy godmothers anymore hence the school is falling dormant. When Eleanor (Jillian Bell) – the young ambitious fairy-in-training among the jaded unassigned fairy godmothers hears the school may be closing, she sets out to find an assignment and prove that fairy godmothers are still needed to bring a “happily ever after”.

But the problem is that her assignment stems from a letter written by a young girl who is now an older, jaded, single mom (Isla Fisher) living in Boston!

Review: The film ‘Godmothered’ directed by Sharon Maguire when compared to Disney’s classic fairy tales has a modern twist. It is packed with humour which will entertain kids and adults alike, as it conveys a strong message that living happily is even more important than seeking happily ever after!

This film gives you everything you would look for in a good Christmas film, as well as everything that you would expect from Disney.

The moments were Eleanor portals from the Motherland to Boston, determined to succeed and save her fellow fairy godmothers from being demoted to tooth fairies, in search of a 10-year-old young girl to help her find her happily ever after; but meets a 40 something single mother, who has lost her spark will genuinely make the viewers laugh out loud.

Moreover, the elements grabbed from some of our favourite Disney princesses give the film a real magical feel. In short, the film is full of fun but carries so much heart that tells a story about loss beautifully!

When it comes to performances, Jillian Bell brings the comedy at just the perfect amount, to compliment the tone of the film. She has given some awesome comedic performances in the past hence, watching Eleanor discover the ‘real world’ is hilarious. Whereas, Isla Fisher has a more subdued role, but she plays it well and with heart. Even the rest of the film's cast has played their respective roles well.

As far as the music is concerned, it is used well throughout the film and Andra Day’s ‘Rise Up’ is especially perfectly placed and carries the sentiment of the whole film.

Overall, Godmothered is a fabulous film that has an empowering ending and leaves you with a great message – live happy in the moment and don’t stress about the happily ever after. And that is just perfect for this holiday season!
