‘The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance’ is set to follow up on the crisis that led Jen to embark upon an unforgettable quest.

Jim Henson and Franz Oz’s’ ground-breaking animatronics in the 1982 puppet animated movie, ‘The Dark Crystal’, had introduced a whole new style of animated filmmaking. Its dark but more dramatic tone wrapped in the then undefined aesthetics of puppet animation created a whole new platform for the movie which was nominated for a BAFTA award in the Best Visual Effects category. The good news is now with Netflix gearing up to release the prequel series of the film fans will finally get a chance to get a complete picture of the crisis which led Jen to go on a quest in order to restore balance in her alien world.

The series has been creating quite a buzz ever since in 2017, the Jim Henson Company in association with Netflix announced the prequel, and later that same year filming began in the United Kingdom. The series is reportedly dependent on the old-school puppetry and not CGI, except for using the green screen to keep the puppeteers out of sight.

As the film is about to enter its 39th anniversary, here’s everything you need to know about the prequel.

Release Date:

The series is set to release on August 30 this year.

The prequel will pick up from the events prior to the ones in the movie. (IMDb)
