Shimla: The Meteorological (Met) Department has issued a fresh yellow weather warning for thunderstorm in Himachal Pradesh for the next two days, an official said on Sunday.

The Shimla Met Centre has forecast thunderstorms accompanied with hailstorm and gusty winds in plains, low and middle hills of the state for June 24 and 25.

The weather office issues colour-coded warnings to alert people ahead of severe or hazardous weather that has the potential to cause "damage, widespread disruption or danger to life".

Yellow is the least dangerous out of the weather warnings. It indicates the possibility of severe weather over the next few days.

The weather has remained largely dry in the state in the last 24 hours.

The maximum temperatures in the state dropped by a notch or two on Sunday.

Una continued to be the hottest place in the state with a high of 41.7 degrees Celsius, whereas the lowest temperature was recorded at 8.2 degrees Celsius in tribal district Lahaul and Spiti's administrative centre Keylong.

The maximum temperature in Mandi was recorded at 39.2 degrees Celsius, followed by Sundernagar (37.2 degrees Celsius), Bilaspur (36.2 degrees Celsius), Hamirpur (36 degrees Celsius), Chamba (35.1 degrees Celsius), Nahan (33.6 degrees Celsius), Solan (33.2 degrees Celsius) and Paonta Sahib (27.5 degrees Celsius).

Tourist destination Manali recorded a maximum of 29.5 degrees Celsius, while state capital Shimla registered a high of 27.5 degrees Celsius. Dalhousie and Kufri recorded maximum temperatures of 22.1 and 18 degrees Celsius respectively, the weather office said.
