Christmas Concert The Greatest Gift of All Invitation

15th Annual Performance to Feature 75 musicians and a special 20-voice children's choir

SUWANEE, Ga.: The Sugar Hill Choir of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints presents its 15th annual free, community Christmas concert themed The Greatest Gift of All.

The concert will be held Dec. 14 and 15 at 7 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Church located at 4833 Suwanee Dam Road, adjacent to North Gwinnett High School in Suwanee, Ga. No ticket is necessary for the concert. The 75-voice choir will sing a variety of unfamiliar and traditional Christmas favorites, with a special performance by a 20-voice children's choir.

Sugar Hill Choir Director Pamela Gates will be retiring at the end of the season after 15 years of directing the musicians. "I am so honored to have been a part of this choir whose members travel upwards of three hours each week and freely give of their time and talents," said Gates. "It has been exciting to see thousands attending our concerts throughout the years as part of their family's holiday traditions."

The choir will once again support the Light Up Georgia With Kindness initiative, launched last year with the mission to strengthen communities by encouraging people to perform acts of kindness Dec. 1-24. The culmination of all those good deeds involves participants placing white illuminated bags across their yard and driveway on the evening of Dec. 24, visually connecting neighbor-to-neighbor to symbolize the positive impact each person can have on others. A completed Light Up bag will be given to each family. Two additional bags and information will also be distributed for guests to give to neighbors and friends to help create an unbroken chain as the community works together Dec. 24 in Building Together the Pathway Lit by Kindness.

Choir was organized in 2005 and nicknamed by concert attendees as the Mormon Tabernacle Choir of the South, the 75-voice Sugar Hill Choir of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has performed for dozens of metro-Atlanta community events and festivals. Its reputation for excellence has led to numerous invitations to sing for national festivals, as well as being nominated as one of the best county church choirs by local media. The all-volunteer choir performs for free and draws members from Cobb, Dawson, Fulton, Forsyth, Hall, Gwinnett and Walton Counties, with cities being represented including Buford, Cumming, Dacula, Dawsonville, Flowery Branch, Gainesville, Grayson, Hamilton Mill, Marietta, Lawrenceville, Lilburn, Loganville, Oakwood, Roswell, Sugar Hill and Suwanee.
