Filmfare successfully concludes Planet Marathi presents Filmfare Awards Marathi 2021, recognizes the most extraordinary performers with the coveted Black Lady

Mumbai: In an evening to remember, Filmfare Awards Marathi 2021 in association with Title Partner Planet Marathi lauded excellence in Marathi cinema on 31st March at St. Andrew’s Auditorium, Bandra, Mumbai. Amidst much fanfare, the red carpet welcomed a stellar gathering of stars, and the stage witnessed a host of spectacular performances.

The 6th edition of Filmfare Awards Marathi 2021 continued its legacy to celebrate the cinematic excellence of the Marathi Film industry by honoring the faces behind the screen and on-screen. The night saw the audience give a loud cheer not once, but twice, as Jhimma and Karkhanisanchi Waari shared the iconic Black Lady as winners of the Best Film category. Ankush Chaudhari was filled with immense joy and pride as he walked up the stage to claim the Best Actor in a Leading Role (Male) award for Dhurala. The actor, on receiving the award from Nawazuddin Siddiqui, said that he became extremely down to earth after watching an interview of the superstar and called him ‘his biggest inspiration’. There was a lot of applause from the crowd for the winners of the Best Actor in a Leading Role (Female) category as Sai Tamhankar and Nehha Pendse shared the award for their performances in Dhurala and June, respectively. The Lifetime Achievement Award was bestowed upon the legendary Sulochana Latkar, who epitomized the role of a mother in Marathi and Hindi cinema. Having appeared in over 50 Marathi films and around 250 Hindi films, the 93-year-old received the award from director Mahesh Kothare in a recorded video clip.

The awards were hosted by talented duo by Amey Wagh and Siddharth Jadhav. However, the night became very special for host Siddharth Jadhav as he was awarded the Best Actor in a Supporting Role (Male) for his memorable performance in Dhurala. Getting very emotional, the actor gave his close friend Kushal Badrike a tight hug on stage before speaking about his acting journey and what holding the iconic Black Lady meant to him. With some of the most talented technicians from the world now displaying their craft in Marathi films, the ceremony also witnessed Mark Sobocinski, from Poland, winning the Best Cinematography Award for his stellar work in The Discipline. Another memorable moment to witness was talented singer Adarsh Shinde winning the third Black Lady trophy of his career as he bagged the Best Playback Singer (Male) award for the track Dhurala (Rada Dhurala). 

Adding to the celebration of great performances, the evening was also a sight to behold as the stars bedazzled the red carpet. Amruta Khanvilkar, Manasi Naik, Pooja Sawant, Sai Tamhankar, Sonalee Kulkarni, Resham Shrivardhan, Rupali Bhosle, Bhagyashree Mote, Prajakta Mali, Kshitee Jog, Priya Bapat, Nehha Pendse and Aditi Sarandhar looked resplendent in their elegant saris and ravishing gowns. On the other hand, veteran actresses such as Padmini Kolhapure, Sonali Khare, Nishigandha Wad looked their elegant and graceful selves as they made their way onto the red carpet. Making a remarkable style statement, Pratik Gandhi, Adinath Kothare, Siddharth Menon, Pankaj Vishnu, Kushal Badrike, Bhushan Pradan, Priyadarshan Jadhav and Shiv Thakare looked sharp and dapper striking a pose for the shutterbugs. To add to the glamour quotient at the event, talented and veteran artists such as Vijay Patkar, Bhau Kadam, Prasad Oak, Pushkar Shrotri, Hemant Dome, Viju Mane, Sachin Pilgaonkar, Anand Jog, Bharat Dabholkar and Ravi Jadhav rubbed off their magnetic charisma on all those gathered.

In a heartfelt tribute to India’s Melody Queen, Late Lata (Tai) Mangeshkar, actors Pooja Sawant and Manasi Naik presented a marvelous performance on the iconic singer’s songs. It was a profound moment of nostalgia and love, as the two actors brought to life the magnanimous legacy of India’s nightingale. The graceful duo left audiences in awe as they danced to a medley of evergreen Lata Mangeshkar songs spanning generations such as Pyaar Kiya Toh Darna Kya and Chadh Gayo Papi Bichhua amongst many others. Everyone’s favourite and popular actors, Mrunmayee Deshpande and Pushkar Jog lit up the stage with a special duet performance. Twinning in a green and black attire in an act that was full of fun, the pair shook a leg to popular Marathi numbers such as Bhurum Bhurum and Kashala Udyachi. The charming Vaibhav Tatwawadi rocked the stage dancing to hit Marathi tracks and brandished his sword in style on songs from the blockbuster film Tanhaji. Moreover, the gorgeous Sonalee Kulkarni, put on a scintillating performance on a host of romantic tracks. Furthermore, the night also witnessed the stunning Amruta Khanvilkar, leaving the audience mesmerized in a special Lavani dance performance to the title track of Chandramukhi. Adding to that, hosts Amey Wagh and Siddharth Jadhav left the audience in splits with their quick-wit, and hilarious punchlines.
