ERA to host 'Wonder Women’ - a 6-day women's festival to mark International Women’s Day, Celebrate the aura of ancient Indian art at this do!

Mumbai: This, International Women’s day, Era for Women is all set to host ‘Wonder Women’, a week-long festival of events, live demonstrations, flea market, art walk, an exhibition of paintings and sculptures, and more to educate and celebrate universal feminist identity. ERA is the brainchild of Artist Rupali Patole, a renowned artist and sculptor who has been devoting time to social causes for a decade. ERA has been educating and motivating needy women by training them with creative endeavours and making them financially independent. 

ERA Mainly Focuses on ancient Indian art found in the old temple architecture, valuable scriptures, coins, stamps, master’s work, art, and craft of the country’s heritage sites like Khajuraho temples, Ajanta and Ellora caves, Elephanta caves, and many others. Selective images from these treasures of India will be represented on classic handbags, distinguished doorknobs, authentic jewelry, one-of-a-kind pieces of jackets, fashion accessories, corporate gifting, home furnishing, artistic home décor, and other exclusive products. ERA aspires to bring to the forefront India’s ancient art that seems to have lost its charm in this day and age.

"The pandemic stuck the art fraternity very badly, leaving several talented artists with no means to pursue their art & hone their skills. We at ERA for Women, thus have brought together all these women artists from various fields, who have stood against all odds at 'Wonder Women' festival in Mumbai at Jolly Art Adda at Kanjurmarg, the newest art space in Mumbai to express art," shares Rupali Patole, President & Founder, ERA.

The week-long celebration will see an exhibition of paintings, jewelry, sculptures, and artifacts by 15 Women artists who come from diverse backgrounds and varying levels of artistic experience. The show will be held from 6th March till 12th March 2021 at Jolly Art Adda, Kanjurmarg(E).

The inaugural day will see felicitation of six women achievers, who are also connected with art in some way and for their contribution to the society showing the exemplary body of work like Geeta Castelino, Educationist, Board Member of Kala Ghoda Association, and National and International Award winner, Vimala Nandkumar, Chairperson at SHAKTI - an after school program and also Cancer Survivor but continued to work as an Artist. Artist Kanchan Mahante who survived cancer and did not allow herself to get affected by it and continued to work, Urvi Jangam, The first blind woman to have done Ph.D. In German, Adore Charities, will be felicitated for their commendable charity work and Yash Kohli, Ex Editor of a Fashion Magazine, Artist and Art Curator.

The ‘Wonder Women’ by ERA will bring 15 women artists like Ami Patel, Archana Deshpande Joshi, Gunjan Cowlagi, Kanchan Mahante, Kiran Chopra, Kiran Jangir, Madhumita Bhattacharyaa, Neeti Hegde, Neelam Hemrajani, Rachana Nagarkar, Rakhi Baid, Rupali Patole, Shubbhangi Gade, Vanmala Jain, Vimala Nandkumar and Yash Kohli. The event also has Artifacts on display by Teshee Studio by Vandana Pawar, Design Studio by Gunjan Cowlagi, and block prints by Vandana Joshi.

The highlight of the event will also be LIVE Painting Demonstration by Artist Kiran Jangir who is also a sculptor and will be exhibiting her works at the show, LIVE performance by visually impaired women from Shreerang Charitable Trust, display of works by the girls of Salaam Bombay Foundation Art Academy and more.

The inaugural day will be graced by Consul General of France, Her Excellency Ms. Sonia Barbry, Deputy Consul General of Germany, Her Excellency Marja Einig, Consul General of Italy, Her Excellency, Ms. Stefania Costanza, Consul General of Switzerland, His Excellency Mr. Othmar Hardegger and his wife Yvonne,  Consul General of Singapore, His Excellency Mr. Gavin Chay and his wife Pamela, Czech Trade Commissioner, Mr. and Mrs. Lubos. The diplomats will be engaging in discussions on the art culture, women's power, and more.
