Plot:
One year after an explosion decimated the Capitol Building, Tom Kirkman continues searching for the mastermind behind this devastating attack and helping a struggling nation rebuild.
Review:
Season 2, one year into office, Kirkman is a Commander-in-Chief determined to rebuild the Capitol and capture the terrorists behind the catastrophic attack on the United States. However, the weight and pressure of this title comes knocking hard when Kirkman is faced with numerous hard-bound situations- all of national importance. For instance, when Ukrainian nationalists hijack a Russian Air flight, the President is faced with a hostage situation in which his diplomatic skills are put to the test.
Another demanding situation arises when President Kirkman is faced with a viral pandemic that threatens to kill countless Americans. The parallel storyline concerning FBI Agent Hannah Wells and a new ‘mate’ MI6 Agent Damian Rennett supports the core plot as usual. They both discover evidence that could change the lives of members of the first family forever.
On the other hand, Tensions rise between America and Mexico when a Mexican citizen is shot during a border dispute regarding Mexican trade imports. Kirkman’s staff eventually gets the idea to use an AUMF (Authorization for Use of Military Force) to send food and supplies, after the Taurisi governor is cued to declare the area a war zone.
This season is intense in a lot more way, taking into the fact that Kirkman faced a devastating loss in his personal life.
Following the death of his wife Alex, Kirkman had to deal with a whole lot of intrigue and inquiries that threatened to bring him face to face with impeachment. The main threat to him came in the face of the special prosecutor Ethan West (Michael J. Fox) found a whole lot of dirt on President Kirkman’s close associate Hannah Wells (Maggie Q) and the attorney general (Bruce Davison).
If all this was not enough, there comes the big announcement:
President Kirkman is running for re-election and choosing to remain independent so that he can act in the best interest of the American people without being pushed and pulled by any political party.
