Chidambaram's Kashmir remarks meant to incite Muslims: Sushil
Patna: Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi on Monday claimed that Congress leader P Chidambaram's recent statement on Kashmir was "unfortunate" and meant to incite the Muslims against the government.
Chidambaram on Sunday lambasted the BJP for abrogation of the Article 370, saying the saffron party would not have "snatched away" the special status had Jammu and Kashmir been a Hindu-dominated state.
"Unfortunately, former finance minister P Chidambaram and Digvijay Singh are trying to incite Muslim community against the government on the issue (of Jammu and Kashmir)," Modi, a senior BJP leader of Bihar, said in a tweet.
Some Congress leaders are hell-bent on making the party a 'Muslim League' of free India," he said.
Defending the decision to revoke Article 370, the Bihar deputy chief minister said reports of deaths used to pour in from Jammu and Kashmir on a daily basis earlier, but not a single bullet was fired in the past one week there.
"But why the Congress is feeling bad for Kashmir valley which is turning into a heaven?" he asked.
Modi thanked Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Governor Satya Pal Malik and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval for ensuring a peaceful Eid al-Adha in Jammu and Kashmir.
