Review:

A crime has been committed! Brutal one! Who has done it? - That’s the whole plot of the story.

But, what is fantastic about the writing is- every character seems like a suspect. Everyone has got a dark secret to keep with themselves. There is not a single storyline but multiple of them running in parallel with the main storyline; but they don’t confuse you, rather gives you more perspective in their personal lives.

The first series of the British crime drama Broadchurch originally aired on the ITV broadcast network in the United Kingdom from 4 March 2013 to 22 April 2013. The eight-episode series explores the murder of an 11-year-old boy in the fictional, close-knit coastal town of Broadchurch in Dorset, United Kingdom. The series depicted the impact that suspicion and media attention have on the community while the case being solved part by part.

One of the most emotional plot twists does not even involve the protagonist. It concerns one of the supporting character ‘Old Jack’, local newsagent and leader of the Sea Brigade. During the investigation, Jack is revealed to have been imprisoned for a year for having a sex with a minor. It is really amusing how his story evolves and meets it’s conclusion.

Besides the impressive performances given by the Latimer family, it is DI Alec Hardy (David Tennant) and DS Ellie Miller (Olivia Colman) who are investigating the crime- who makes for such convincing detectives.

Music by Olafur Arnalds helped to inspire the series' mood and tone. Arnalds composed the series' soundtrack, which won a BAFTA Craft Award.

The creator of the series, Chris Chinball has made it too gripping to even battle an eyelid. Once, in an interview Chibnall says. “It was a sort of shamelessly brave attempt to make sure that there were cliffhangers in there every week. I love that addiction a great story can bring about in you.”

Let’s get away with it: the ending: punishing to the nerves, the revelation is shocking but doesn’t seem dis-jointed. It will definitely haunt you for some time!
