Star Cast: Sunny Kaushal, Rukshar Dhillon, Shriya Pilgaonkar, Naila Grewal, Parmeet Sethi,

Plot: The story inspired by ‘Love Aaj Kal’ (2009), is divided into two eras; one is the present (2019) and the other pertaining to the World War II era (1946). The film showcases – Captaan (Sunny Kaushal) from the 1940s and his grandson Jaggi Singh (also Sunny Kaushal) in 2019.

Jaggi, part-time DJ’s motto is to win an inter-college bhangra competition that will take him to London, to honour his grandfather’s love for bhangra as well as his heroic legacy.  While Simi (Rukshar Dhillon) also known as ‘the best female dancer’ from a rival college has the same dream as Jaggi.

Jaggi and Simi fall in love, but they have a competition of a lifetime standing in the way of their “happily ever after”.

Review: Debutant Director Sneha Taurani (daughter of Ramesh Taurani) has done a commendable job but sadly chosen the wrong subject.

And when it comes to performances, Sunny Kaushal (Debut as a lead) and debutant Rukhsar Dhillon has done a decent job. But their chemistry is glaringly weak on screen, thus making the film irrelevant for most parts. In fact, Sunny shares a stronger rapport with his other parallel love interest (Nimo) Shriya Pilgaonkar than Rukshar (Simi).

Even cinematographer Jitan Harmeet Singh deserves a special mention because of the way he has beautifully captured the innocence of the countryside Punjab.

Despite being a musical film, none of the songs have made it as a chartbuster. For a movie that boasts of Bhangra as its USP, even the choreography of this peppy dance form looks weak and predictable. And its lengthy narrative only makes things worse.

Overall, ‘Bhangra Paa Le’ fails to connect with the audience as it has nothing new to offer other than the routine & boring dance subject. And feels like a mishmash of other dance movies we have watched in the recent past!
