St. John tells this dramatic true story of love and betrayal through the eyes of her ancestress Lucy St. John. The Tower of London is infamous for the famous prisoners it housed, the horrific torture that took place within its walls, and the tragic executions witnessed on Tower Green. By tracking down family papers and residences, St. John tells of Lucy's personal friendships with historical figures such as Sir Walter Raleigh and the Stuart kings, bringing a unique perspective to the history of 17th century England. Sometimes love sets you free. Other times it leads you to prison.
