MANHATTAN, N.Y.: "The Land of Colors". Turkish composer Armağan Durdağ's (pronounced "Armaan Durda" and his full name literally means the Gift of the Pearl Mountain in the Turkish language) premier CD album is a musical bridge between East and West. Durdağ guides audiences on an exotic musical and mystical journey toward the spiritual unity of people. By utilizing Western and Eastern styles of music, texts, and both modern and traditional musical forms and instruments, the composer aims to immerse the listener in a profound experience of cultural and spiritual Oneness.

Durdağ′s music embraces a Postmodern approach, which powerfully integrates the Western classical music style Neo-Romanticism – including but not limited to Post-minimalistic blend of rock, jazz, and popular music – with the melodic and rhythmic colors of traditional Turkish maqam and folk music. Born in Istanbul, Turkey he recently completed - both his Master of Music and Doctor of Musical Arts degrees in Music Composition in the USA, while working with prominent American composers.

The composer has created his own musical group, Armağan Durdağ Ensemble, which combines Turkish ethnic instruments with Western classical instruments and intermittently includes a mezzo-soprano and electronic music as well.

Durdağ will be touring internationally soon with his project, 'New Music for a New World', which was premiered on the 28th of November, 2012 at CRR Concert Hall in Istanbul, under the baton of maestro Burak Tüzün with the composer at the piano.

Music is published by Armagan Durdag Music.
