Anupam Kher launches his autobiography, ‘Lessons Life Taught Me, Unknowingly’ with filmmakers Mahesh Bhatt and Sooraj Barjatiya as Guests of Honour and mother Dulari Kher as the Chief Guest

Mumbai: With an illustrious career spanning over three decades and 500 plus films globally, actor and motivational speaker Anupam Kher's journey as an accomplished artiste has been nothing short of exemplary.

The celebrated actor released his much-awaited autobiography, ‘Lessons Life Taught Me, Unknowingly’ with renowned filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt and director-producer Sooraj Barjatya as guests of honour both of whom have been instrumental in shaping his career. Anupam Kher’s mother, Dulari Kher was also present at the launch held at Crossword Bookstore (Juhu) in Mumbai. Published by Hay House India, the book is a kaleidoscopic peep into the life and times of a true genius and entertainer peppered with incredible life lessons that are bound to resonate with every aspiring artiste and, above all, the common man.

The evening witnessed a riveting conversation between the author his mother and filmmakers on his journey hailing from a lower middle class family in Shimla to becoming one of the most versatile and admired actors globally. While his first book, 'The Best Thing About You Is You' still stands tall at the bestseller shelves in bookstores, Anupam Kher through this book will aim to inspire his legion of fans all the more.

Discussing his journey in the entertainment industry, Anupam Kher said, “My autobiography is the sum total of my Kucch Bhi Ho Sakta Hai moments. The only thing a  Kashmiri boy from a small town Shimla could do was to dream. He was told by his grandfather that all dreams come true. So All my life I have tried to stick to this philosophy. My book is about my failures which I tried to turn into my successes. Sometimes I succeed. And sometimes I don’t. But I never stop trying. Happy to launch my life story with the three people who are responsible for where I am today.”

Discussing his friendship and work with the author, Mahesh Bhatt said,”Dont take yourself seriously but your work seriously and it's the inner un-fulfilment which keeps him going which was evident while directing Saraansh in ‘84. I don’t think in my entire career I have met any actor who surrendered himself completely. What sums him up as a person and an artist is ‘nervous’ and ‘confident’. Keep this angst, keep this unfulfillment going.”

Speaking on the book Sooraj Barjatya said, “What I take back from the book is to acknowledge mistakes then one does not have to live in guilt.”

Speaking the launch, Chiragh Oberoi, CEO, Crossword Bookstore said, “It is a pleasure to host such intriguing storytellers at Crossword. The team at Crossword wishes all the success to Mr. Kher on his latest book and we hope readers nationwide cherish and learn from his distinct stories and anecdotes from his life.”
