Gig working app, Alset, re-designs its app, to target those in the new economy

LOS ANGELES: Alset, the world's only barter, favors, paid gig working app, has re-designed its app to increase its efficiency and use within the new gig working economy. Unlike other gig working apps which take a large fee from its users in return for using its platform, Alset only charges users fifty cent ($0.50) for every gig booked through the paid service to ensure a level playing field for its community. Additionally, Alset allows its users to barter their skills or offer them for free at no cost to the buyer or seller. With the re-designed platform, Alset hopes to further engage with its active community.

"The first two releases of Alset were important because it met the minimal viable product required to go live," notes Alset founder, Robert Lo. "Alset's community is growing, which necessitated our re-designed app."

Alset's product manager, Ian Tyack, recalls the how Alset's re-design came to fruition. "We've spent the past two months re-designing the look and feel of Alset since our first launch in late 2019," says Tyack. "We've listened to our users, overcome a variety of sticking points, created a smoother experience, and simplified the app to ensure it is easy to use."

For Tyack, the biggest addition to the platform is bartering goods as well as services. "In the new economy, we identified the importance of bartering. Some users trading dried goods for bathroom tissue while under lockdown!" notes Tyack.

Alset, which has seen an uptick in users utilizing the barter and favors options since the onset of COVID-19, is positioning itself to be an easy to use, yet impactful platform to connect users with a larger, engaged community. "We enhanced the user interface and user experience to give our users more features, such as bartering goods more easily and uploading larger photos, along with capabilities, like sharing the app with family and friends," says Lo.

Founded in the autumn of 2017, Alset wants its users to invest in themselves and their communities. "In the twentieth century, power was correlated with money, but power in the twenty-first century is about accessibility above anything else.," stresses Lo. "If a user is plugged into their community, using those services, and paying it forward, we can create a revolution of sorts, the likes of which have not been seen since industrialization."

Users can download Alset from Google Play and Apple App Store.
