LOS ANGELES: To commemorate its 10th anniversary, Diversity in Cannes, the independent film movement promoting inclusion at the Cannes Film Festival, announced its Top 10 Filmmakers of the Decade, in celebration of diverse content creators worldwide.

Curated by Yolonda Brinkley, the founder, and a committee of film professionals, filmmakers were chosen based on their body of work, their approach to filmmaking and their desire to challenge stereotypes and to positively shape the perception of marginalized people globally.

Selected from 1500 creatives who have submitted short-form content to the Diversity in Cannes Short Film Showcase since inception, filmmakers represent India, Italy, Jamaica, Mexico, Nigeria, New Zealand, Sweden, United Kingdom and the United States. From television/film directors and editors to voiceover artists and foundation managers, the Diversity in Cannes Top 10 Filmmakers of the Decade are recognized for their ability to educate, entertain and to shift the narrative of underrepresented populations around the world.

"I am excited to celebrate 10 years of independently promoting inclusion at the Cannes Film Festival and to culminate our year-long festivities announcing Diversity in Cannes' Top 10 Filmmakers of the Decade," comments Yolonda Brinkley, entertainment publicist and creator of Diversity in Cannes. "At a time when the global film industry continues to struggle with inclusivity, I am thrilled to celebrate these 12 international filmmakers who intentionally uplift marginalized underrepresented voices with their stories!"
