NEW YORK: Bevel, a strategic communications firm with category-leading clients in finance, tech and venture capital, has announced their first virtual event of 2021 as part of the firm’s members-only ‘Bevel, Books and Bourbon’ book series. The conversation will be led by renowned tech and cryptocurrency journalist Jeff John Roberts, author of “Kings of Crypto,” published in December 2020.

"I first encountered Bitcoin in 2013 in a park where Wall Street bankers and crypto anarchists were trading it in the open air. Since then, the story has only become more fascinating. I'm eager to share some of the secrets I've learned from years covering Coinbase and crypto,” Roberts said.

“Kings of Crypto” depicts the rapid rise of Coinbase, the largest digital currency exchange in the world. Coinbase is the most dominant platform for trading Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. Today, Coinbase is still valued at a 2018 price of $8 billion and is expected to go public in the coming months despite generating plenty of controversy along the way.

“We’ve represented the leading crypto firms from seed through acquisition, including Tagomi (acquired by Coinbase) as well as institutional crypto funds such as Blocktower Capital and Ikigai Asset Management. Recently, our excitement and enthusiasm for cryptocurrency as a whole has been reignited,” said Jessica Schaefer, founder and CEO of Bevel. “Jeff has been covering the space since the very beginning, and we think our audience will love his take on the emergence of cryptocurrency from Silicon Valley to Wall Street.”

Since launching in April 2020 at the height of the global pandemic, ‘Bevel, Books & Bourbon’ has attracted over 500 CEOs, founders and entrepreneurs across industries. Bevel’s books are carefully curated from recommendations of leading VC investors and startup founders. The book club series aims to open up engaging conversations around the most interesting people, ideas, and companies.

Bevel was founded nearly four years ago by Schaefer, an industry veteran who drew on her experience as Vice President of Corporate Communications at Point72 and its venture capital arm, Point72 Ventures, to launch the first quantitatively driven, results-oriented public relations firm. The accountable and VC-like approach has led the firm to attract a notable roster of clients, including: Acorns, Dirty Lemon, Greycroft, Primetime Partners, Public.com, Rally, RX3 Ventures, Torch Capital, Upholdings, and Yieldstreet. Bevel has an extensive waitlist and is only accepting highly-vetted new business opportunities.

The Bevel team is known for its bold thinking, invite-only events for the media as well as clients, and its elite network. In June 2019, Bevel traveled to Monaco for the EY World Entrepreneur of the Year Summit and hosted a private yacht event with Steve Clemons, renowned Political & Foreign Policy Commentator and Editor at Large of The Hill, to launch a health-tech platform. The firm has also hosted “Bevel on Bourbon” in New Orleans, a private event for tech founders and investors, as well as an LGBTQ Fintech event in NYC in celebration of Pride Month.
