4th edition of Bank of Baroda’s ‘Baroda Kisan Pakhwada’ aims at economic upliftment in rural sector

Hyderabad: India’s premium public sector bank, Bank of Baroda (BoB) today commemorates the World Food Day by announcing the grand inauguration of Baroda Kisan Diwas. Today marks the beginning of 4th edition of ‘Baroda Kisan Pakhwada’, a fortnight long farmer engagement programme. This year, the engagement programme would be celebrated with the theme of “Our Actions are our Future” in line with that of Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). The initiative would primarily acknowledge and appreciate the contribution of farming community towards the economic growth of our nation and would include various farmer outreach events, knowledge series, felicitation programmes. The fortnight long pan-India initiative will conclude on 31st October, 2021 benefiting a large number of farmers through multiple channels.

The Bank also launched "Centre for Agriculture Marketing and Processing (CAMP), its new centralized agri-loans processing units across 18 Zonal Offices. The CAMP is a dedicated credit delivery model with a focus on financing non-traditional agricultural products and handle agri-marketing activities. The CAMP consists of trained manpower with understanding and exposure to handling high value credit accounts. Bank will also promote collaborations with local organisations for sourcing quality business.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Man Mohan Gupta, General Manager, Hyderabad Zone said, “Agriculture has been the major thrust and promising segment in our Advances growth for the FY2021-22. Our main thrust areas under Agriculture segment is Gold Loan and Self Help Group Finance. We have grown by YTD by 11% i.e., Rs 650.00 Crore in the Gold Loan segment and 6% i.e., Rs 54.96 Crore in the SHG segment. As the economy is growing very fast after the COVID Pandemic we are further expecting robust growth in the Agriculture segment. Both the State Governments Telangana and Andhra Pradesh are focused towards the growth of Agrarian economy by promoting various benefits and concessions for developing the Agriculture Infrastructure (Construction of Ware House, Cold Storage, SEZ for Food and Agro Processing units, etc.,), thus providing the opportunity for Bankers to take advantage of this benefits.

In our Zone we along with Branches/Regions have actively participated in the Baroda Kisan Pakhwara (BKP) during the last three years with high spirits and enthusiasm by reaching out to the customers for understanding and providing timely credit requirement to the Rural and Agrarian farmers. This year also we are committed to conduct the BKP across our Zone in a festive mode by reaching maximum number of customers by arranging Credit Camps, Choupals, Cattle Health Checkups, Financial Literacy Camps etc.
